A Look at Technology and Productivity in SMEs
A recent study revealed that 39% of SME decision makers would consider leaving their role if they didn’t have the right tools to do their job properly. Additionally, almost a third of respondents expressed that their leadership team is not moving fast enough to keep up with the evolving technology requirements of their staff.
The 2019 Digital Business Report from Advanced delved into whether employees are being provided with the necessary tools to enhance their productivity. The report emphasized the importance of leaders collaborating with their staff to identify issues that could be resolved through updated technology.
Despite the benefits of technology in boosting productivity, only 31% of respondents stated that productivity drives the purchase of new technology in their organization. Gordon Wilson, CEO of Advanced, highlighted the significance of technology in improving processes, eliminating tedious tasks, and creating a better work-life balance.
Wilson stressed the importance of employees recognizing the value of utilizing digital tools to enhance productivity. He recommended that leaders develop a digital strategy that includes change management and considers the diverse backgrounds and abilities of their workforce.
On a positive note, smaller businesses have the advantage of agility compared to larger organizations burdened by legacy systems. Wilson encouraged SME leaders to leverage this flexibility to spearhead the adoption of new technologies and drive productivity enhancements.
